Support the Creation of a News Production Studio at Suffield Middle School!

If you were not able to join us at the auction, but would like to support a News Production Studio at SMS, please consider a donation now. Your donation will help to transform the delivery of information to students while simultaneously introducing new skills and experiences to the students of SMS. With the News Production Studio at SMS, students will learn the elements of what makes news and effective messages in the world of multimedia. The news production studio will be used to provide daily announcements, newsworthy stories, community interest stories, documentaries and public service announcements. As part of the program, students will develop skills in holding editorial meetings, brainstorming ideas, planning the story, collaborating and assigning roles and meeting deadlines. Students will have the opportunity through varied roles on a production team learn what it is to “gather” the news, “get” the story and “convey” the intended message and learn new skills in field production, editing and reporting. Announcements will be simulcast into all classrooms through the ceiling mounted LCD projectors. The use of multi-media is transforming the educational experience for our children. Raising the Paddle for the Student New Production will provide our students with a new opportunity to combine the use of technology with other important life skills.
